A very popular restaurant with many appreciative testimonials on their website.

A while ago I had a short conversation with a member of staff when I pointed out they had fish listed as vegetarian on their menu board. I was told I was wrong, that fish was vegetarian because some people who ate fish described themselves as such. They may have got that one sorted now but vegan food is even more puzzling to them. Chef ‘may’ be able to do something for you, I was told, but there was no guarantee. This attitude is most unusual these days and even more surprising in a quality restaurant.

As the menu stands you’d be dining on ‘light bites’ from the starters menu: hummus and bread perhaps. Vegetarians have more options but need to be wary since the risotto marked vegetarian includes parmesan cheese which is never vegetarian.

Sadly this place bucks the trend for growing awareness of vegan catering and a willingness to accommodate vegan diners. Not only will you go hungry, based on my experience you may feel unwelcome too.
